is the top latch/clasp on diors comfortable? like do they come undone real easily...

because i remember when i used to wear dickies alot in middle school, they had the top latch/clasp and they would come undone every once in a while...

also are they pretty sturdy/durable...cause it seems like it would pop off after all the stretching from dry denim in the waist

The clasps are really sturdy on Dior jeans and because they swivel slightly as well they allow for some movement when the jeans shrink or stretch on the waist. I much prefer them to normal button fastening jeans as I like the fact that you can't see the buttons at all when the jeans are done up. If you ever wear your jeans without a belt (I personally don't) it looks much neater and again is a detail in itself.

It's all the little things on the Diors that make me love their jeans so much - not only is the cut the best I have ever tried but the latch clasp, the darts, the lack of overt branding or back pocket details, the plain rivets, the nicely machined buttons on the fly and the small metal block on the waistband belt holder thing (god I'm having a brain drain and can't think of what it's called) But all these add up to a jean that I will never ever tire of wearing. Whilst the quality of denim might not be up there with the sugarcanes or the PRPS's of this world but to me, due to all of the above, Dior's are the ultimate jean.

i agree about the clasp looking nice, and i also appericiate the lack of overt branding, no leather patch, etc... the clasp is annoying to fasten comparitively speaking.

the fit can't be beat, and the japanese nonselvedge is pretty nice. so far mine seem to be showing initial wear quite nicely. i dont know if i would call it the "ultimate jean" though. denim quality is a huge factor in a statement like that.

The clasp on my black japanese 19s just broke goddmt. Possible to install a button? Anyone?

how'd they break? Did the clasp completely come off or is it just loose like you can move it around?

I found that on my 19 cm broken dust wash jeans, the clasp came loose after a few wears that included going to the bathroom...suggestion: If your Diors are tight waisted, undo the clasp before the fly when going to the bathroom...i think ignoring that was what caused my clasp to go loose...i can still use it though, thankfully.
