help on altering jeans

hello guys.

i did a search first before posting but didn't find anything of much detail.

i have this pair of selvage jeans but i didn't really like the regular fit and want to make it more of a narrower fit. is it possible for the tailor to alter from the inseam to make it narrower rather then the outseam where the selvage will be damaged? will it be of any difference?

Instead of taking it in at the seam, take it in next to the seam, right next to the seam, where it can hide a little.

altering on the inseams should not be a problem, since you only want to make the legs slimmer and not change anything above the croth.

However, if you alredy have some nice fade on the thighs or knees, the fade will move towards the inside.

I think my tailor only charge ten bucks to narrow in the legs. And why would you do it from the outseam? Isn't that where your selvage is?
