Just keep forcing em down until you like it.

I don:t know many people that truly enjoyed their first beers. You start cause of peer pressure and cause its cool, then you continue because you grow to love it.

I typically get beer with dinner when I go out to eat. You really do start to appreciate it, or you go homo.

^^^Yeah I was thinking the same thing - I've been checking the news updates every half hour, and it's mainly because this shit never happens in melbourne. I guess i'm glad that I'm not desensitised to murder/shootings yet. Some fucked up shit.

I was on my way into the city when it happened, so there were cops everywhere, helicopters and shit looking for the guy.

clearly you hate freedom

Clearly you are a dumb fuck. How's high school?

Im thinking he may have been joking, but i could be wrong. I sympathize with you on the city safety issue however.

haha yeah I was only sort of joking anyway!

Its funny that it's not really the fact that it feels unsafe, but it makes you think people in some countries deal with this on a day to day basis...

That's what I am thinking

I'm not happy so what's the point?

Still I have to adjust because its not one but both jobs and they pay cash.

The cafe is a friend of a friend but either way I will just be happy to have the experience.

I am having the same problem. I am interning at this office doing data-input. I did it two summers ago and it wasnt that bad. For some reason I cant fucking take it this summer, my head hurts after awhile or i just cant fucking be bothered.

I can easily get a job at a shop of one of my friends but they pay might be 1/2 or even 1/4 of what I am making right now. But i get to chill out, help people with their shit and look at nice clothes all day.

I think I will just stick to this data entry job, but seriously I am not even going at 50% I feel like a degenerate. I need the cash but I could be spending my summer in a much funner way.

tyro, i agree it's fucked up that we take gun murders for granted here; the pro-gun lobby is huge, and their arguments tend to boil down to what i posted, which, as you correctly noted, is dumb as fuck

high school is great, though; none of the bitches have figured out that i'm a decade older than they are

haha I hope you didnt take it too seriously!

It's funny, becasue I wasnt even directing my original comment to the US.

I was only asking about US gun carrying laws in this thread last week. The law does seem very liberal compared to Australia, but I'm sure there are pleanty of middle eastern countries and south american countries that have the same gun violence and none of the perceived freedoms of the US.

i have no idea why but i have this morbid pride in how dangerous the US is/can be.

Im surrounded by other international students all the time, and its funny how differently we view things. A few weeks before I left seattle I was woken up by a gunshot a few blocks away, then cop sirens, then about 10 more shots, then more sirens. Pretty cool, that was one of the few times Ive been actually kind of 'shocked', well, not shocked enough to not immediately start making jokes about it.

Funny thing, Australia has shown nearly a 50% decrease in gun related homicides since 1996 when "a deranged gunman massacred 35 people" in Port Author and 60% of all firearms were banned. However, the actual number of homicides has stayed exactly the same, and in 2007 is actually higher than it was in 1996.

I'm not making any sort of political statement, I simply find these sort of statistics interesting.

i'm similar in that i find a lot of humour in just despicable shit. like, for example, getting drunk in dirty disgusting alley ways with broken glass and garbage and shit everywhere in a probably-going-to-get-stabbed neighbourhood makes me laugh at how awful and low we can sink.

i also love that my friend won't come party in hamilton with my because his friend got stabbed there and he's too afraid to go back.

Yeah I lived in Tasmania when the Port Arthur shooting occured also, and that did cause a massive gun law change. The majority of gun owners in Australia would live in rural areas, and this actually contributes to the number of gun related suicides in rural areas of Australia.

But I think if you really wanted to kill someone, it wouldnt be that difficult...

So this morning i woke up to my dog Butter getting fucked up by someone or something. This is my favorite dog out of the three we got. I think someone fucking kicked her or something. She got outside some how, which im still trying to figure out how. Took her to the vet and they said her top and bottom jaw was broken and now she needs surgery. Cost about $4100, so i guess time to post up some of my shoes to help fund that shit...

My terrier, which weighs about 12 pounds, tried to fight with three coyotes. He survived being ripped open from the neck to the crotch. He has also survived, in his lifetime, dissolving the lining of his stomach with his own stomach acids after eating god-knows-what, in addition to a myriad of other somewhat more minor but no-less painful and sometimes life threatening injuries.

He's the best thing ever. Sorry to hear about that, Chard.
