More on Products and smells

This summer has been hellish down here in soCal. And nowadays I've been going out to work wearing my frumpy looking scrubs (I work in a clinical lab). I'm a typical superfuture clotheshorse and I enjoy being aesthetically pleasing, so this is kinda depressing for me.

Lately I've been focusing on hair and body products that are scented. I've gone past just using deoderant and cologne... I heard from a co-worker of mine that to smell good she uses coordinating scented bodywashes and conditioners. I'm kinda in between about this as a guy. On one hand I really don't want to add premium products into my expenses but on the other hand, if I'm gonna look "scrubby" all the time, the least I could do is to at least smell nice (edit: in a subtle way).

ANYWAYS to get to the point, what're your "scent-oriented" grooming habits? What scents/products do you like to coordinate? I personally like ylang ylang smell, it's so aromatheriffic (and found everywhere, handsoaps, bodysoaps etc.), hope it doesn't smell too fruity though.

I find that any scent that can be picked up on from over a foot away from someone is annoying, especially in an office setting. Americans have a tendancy to overdue scents, especially some women, although plenty of men are guilty too. There is nothing worse than knowing when someone has entered the office before you can see or hear them. So, whatever you use, one to two drops...nothing above the neck. As for scents, for a man stay away from fruit essences unless it is citrius. Leather and herbal tones work well. Musk is for night only.

The key to smelling good is to NEVER wear Cheap Monday dry denim.

On a serious note, I just use unscented hairspray/deoderant/soap and throw on my cologne after that. Seems to work alright and the shampoo/conditioner smell isn't exactly overpowering.
