NO WASH DENIM A FAKE MYTH?

Is the thought of the 6 month "no wash" a lie? Do you get the same results, OR BETTER, from consistent washing from the start? I have seen numerous threads and also t/w real life denim fanatics who claim the no wash raw denim idea is simply an attempt at sophistication. I really don't know but there are an undeniable amount of voices that say that washing from the start is better. Clarify with evidence PLEASE>

No, the "6 month - no wash" isn't a lie. It's a guideline. The idea of wearing your jeans for 6 month is that you want to create fading, wear, crinkles and abrasions that are defined after your body and your life-style.

Many pre-washed denim for instance doesn't have any wear or marking of, let's say:

<ul>

[*] Wallet

[*] Key-chain

[*] Stains from your favourite beverage (in my case coffee)

[*] Accidents

[*] Making sweet love to your jeans

I've seen some pics of jeans that got great wear after just 3 months, and other who haven't washed their jeans for nearly 12 months. I've not seen a single soul who created wear that's noticable after a wash in less than a week, without resorting to some kind of tools.

I've seen denim that looks awesome, and have been washed roughly once a month as well.

"The 6 month - no wash" is about creating wear, not trying to trick stupid fashion geeks into buying expensive, dry denim from japan. We do that anyway icon_smile_wink.gif. If anything I question all the pre-washed denim that basicly deduct several years of your denims life-span. And still the charge more for it in most stores.

What is a "fake myth?" Aren't myths already fake? So is a fake myth a true myth (but that's a contradiction in terms) or a doubly fake myth.

There is no way a pair of jeans washed after every wear will look as good as a pair of jeans worn 6months straight with no wash, given the same amount of activity. Does that mean you have to wear them for six months? No.
