Burgus Plus jeans made by Hinoya

Recommended Posts

Most of you would have come across the website for the store called Hinoya (in Ueno, Tokyo) here on Superdenim. They stock a huge amount of raw selvedge denim (LVC, Sugarcane, Evisu, etc).

However they also have their own line of denim called "Burgus Plus", which are pretty mad.

These, I think, are the ultimate. Absolutely beautiful denim and dyeing. And if you actually touch them (I went to the store last year), they're amazingly coarse and grainy.

Anyways, just thought I'd add another brand of jeans to the list for discussion here! Check out the rest of their range. Mainly vintage repros.

EDIT: I don't actually own any Burgus Plus jeans - I can't seem to get the vintage cut thing to work for me :(

Is there anyone out there who owns them? Got photos or experiences to share? What are they like??

Juxtaposed,

From my search of superdenim for "burgus" (which I conducted before I made this thread), there were only 10 hits, and all of them were pretty much cursory mentions of the brand, without any real discussion of the jeans, let alone any photos etc.

Maybe I've missed something, I don't know, but it didn't seem to me that Burgus Plus had been discussed on SF in any great detail, which is why I posted. Correct me if I'm mistaken...

that denim is nuts. from the first few close up pictures, i thought it might be a broken twill... then in the photo w/ the turn-up, you can see just how crazy-irregular the weave is. i'd probably take the purple selvage arcuate off, but otherwise - wow.

snugglepony, yeah the weave is nuts! I agree that maybe the selvedge arcuate is taking it a bit too far. But it's an interesting touch if nothing else.

Anyone got any experience with Burgus Plus? Share it!

What exactly do you mean by a 'vintage cut'?

reporter: "what do you think about western civilization?"

gandhi: "i think it would be a good idea."

I guess by 'vintage cut' I mean levis 501 repros etc (which is pretty similar to what these Burgus Plus jeans are). That is, jeans with a mid-to-high waist and a leg which is more full than fitted. Which seems to be how a lot of the best selvedge denim (such as these jeans) are cut.

My problem with these vintage cuts is that I have a pretty slim frame and I wear my jeans on the hips rather than the waist. So generally when I try vintage cuts, either I'll wear them low and the hips will come out (because they're cut to be worn higher), or I'll wear them high and feel like an idiot because it's not what I'm comfortable with/used to.
