what's it like having a grandfather?

I only have grandmother's. I think they're alive I just never met the dudes.

Mine is quite a likeable grandfather. If you're anyone other than his son or grandson however.

One of mine is pretty awesome, 88 years old still practicing medicine (because he wants to) and being an old high society baller down in Miami; swimming and playing tennis with his friends everyday. The other is the same age and just gardens all day/complains about his ailing health.

I love them both but I have a more interesting relationship with the former, perhaps because I feel like he "did it right." He always manages to put things into perspective for me. There's lots we disagree on, but I just chalk it up to an old-school upbringing.

When I was a child my relationship to them was much like my relationship with my dad except they never had to discipline me so there was no kneejerk backlash to authority creating unnecessary friction.
