Hi. I am new here and have been reading quite a lot of posts. I haven’t really found the need to reply or ask any questions since there are so many posts on the general basic things to know about denim, fading, stretching and so on. But there are a few questions I would like to ask that I couldn't find answers to.

Can readily faded/pre-faded jeans (by the manufacturer) age well, and keep on fading well? Or does the wash and processing make it remain the same? Would a pair of jeans that were not 100% raw denim but good quality denim, and worn for 10, 20 years be considered good and/vintage?

I have two pairs of Levi’s jeans but I’m not sure whether they were raw or denim of superior quality and a few pairs of uniqlo jeans. The uniqlo jeans are pre-faded. ( The levi’s do seem to fade a bit, but I haven’t really tried to fade them intentionally). I also have one pair of Uniqlo Made in Japan (not selvedge) Jeans.

My question above points to my jeans as well – First: would they, especially the Levi’s, be considered good or vintage if I wear them and fade them well? Second: do pre-faded jeans carry on fading well, and will they look better the more they wear and age?

Answers will be greatly appreciated!!!

they will fade but only lightly, mostly around your butt (where you sit), and your lap (where there's usually a lot of rubbing). other than that, don't expect honeycombs or whiskers to pop up

i've seen plenty of dudes in lowes and HD wearing prefaded jeans that i can tell they have put more fading on. but they never look as good as even STFs that were raw. and i've seen well faded rustlers and other wal-mart jeans that faded pretty damn well from raw. even warehouse aren't really 'vintage jeans'. vintage jeans are the real jeans from yesteryear in my opinion. the jeans we wear are reproductions of vintage jeans. let's say 'vintage inspired'.

Thanks for the answers about the pre-faded jeans, and the clarification on "vintage jeans" - tbh I wasn't really sure about the definition.

How about non-repro's and non-raws?

My jeans:

Levi's - the Levi's are not raw, but they are solid blue coloured.

Uniqlo made in Japans - not sure if raw, or washed one - solid blue

- do they fade nicely, in the same way?

- would they be vintage-like (fading like the raw ones) if the denim is good enough and the wear and care is proper?

- or the reproductions of vintage would have much better fades and be more vintage-like?

Do any of you guys buy and enjoy non-raws?

Non-raw or one washed jeans are made with the same denim as the raw joints. So if the indigo and dyeing process was legit, then you will most likely get a good fade. Fit and lifestyle also affects your fades. You can also get a decent fade from shit denim, but it probably won't last because the indigo was shit. However, if you look at the Levi's STF thread as well as some Thai fakes, you'll see that a good fade is possible from them as well.

I've bought many pairs that were one-wash, but it doesn't mean it was crap. As far as I was concerned it didn't make a difference to me.

One-Wash pairs I got:

- 45RPM Sorahikos

- Eternal 811

- RRL Straight Slim
