I've been looking at the Carhartt Ropers seen here:

Does anyone have a pair of these that could comment on fit, weight, shrinkage, etc?

Yeah - you're right, small Q. My bad, should have put it into that thread.

There are a couple deals on this pant right now (at Caliroots and RedSquare)... so I'm curious. I love the brown canvas duck, but Carhartt's US lines are really, really baggy - their european "streetwear" collection seems to have some of the same materials, but with a bit more of an appealing cut...

Got my pair in the mail today. So far, really digging them. Definitely not as slim-fitting as expected - somewhat generously cut I think. I'll post BIG style measurements on here later today. I think I'm going to try washing them in hot water to see if they shrink at all. Right now they are just fine as is, but could comfortably be a size smaller. (However, maybe I'm just used to denim where they have to be really tight at first because of the stretching...)

However - loving the selvedge outseam, cinchback waist, etc. Nice details - definitely all the 'DNA' of the north american carhartt pants - but with some nice refinements.

Hahaha. Yep, you can DEFINITELY size down with these if you want. Pre-soak measurements:

so your inseam measured longer? in the smaller sizes they only have a 32 inseam and id like a 34 at least

Post if they shrink from a hot wash, because I bought a size 32 and I hope it doesn't measure 35 and if so, hopefully it shrinks.

If you guys don't mind the following:

1) non-selvedge

2) no cinch buckle

3) double-front

The traditional double-front dungarees from Carhartt NA are available in smaller sizes, with long inseams - down to 28x36.

And if you want to spend $25 instead of $125, you can get Lakin McKee brown cotton duck dungarees, which are also available in sizes down to 28 with 34 inseams:

(all that said, i like the additional details in the Ropers, worth the premium IMO.)

Started wearing them this week, really enjoying them. They're much more like denim than khakis in terms of 'moulding' with use. I look forward (with enough years of use) to getting that beautiful faded brown cotton duck colour...

Just got mine in. I really like them. The short rise was a bit hard to get used to. I had feared that these would be too big, but in the end they fit really well.

As much as I hate to, I am probably going to have to sell my ropers. I just got a pair of Left Field canvas chinos and these will probably get worn more than the ropers. They still are a great pair of pants. If anybody is interested I would sell them for $100 shipped in the states. For outside the states shoot me a PM about extra shipping costs. They have been worn maybe a total of 4 times and they have not been washed yet.

I definitely went back and forth on the Ropers vs the Left Fields. For me, it mostly came down to the back pockets - I wanted something a bit more rugged. The cinchback and selvedge outseam also have their appeal.

However, I do love the Left Field's chambray pockets. You'll have to put up some fit pics, RNR.

Would also appreciate some more info. Waist is 3"+tagged size but shrinks an inch after wash, while the inseam is 2"+tagged size but shrinks (more than 2") to tagged inseam!??
