27 by 27? did you have them hemmed? was the waist taken in? they are marked as 28 and APC usually runs a bit big... I'm confused

yes. 27 x 27 is the actual waist and inseam = measurements taken last night. everything appears to be original to me - these were bought second hand - so i know i didn't take them in. if anyone wants additional pics, please let me know. they have been washed, so that's my only guess as to the "shrinkage".
