The fuzzy edge means that it was made on a projectile loom, so altough a real selvedge [in terms of all fabric having selvedge],

it is what lots of people call fake selvedge, i have never heard it called modern selvedge, but that is an acurate name for it.

now whether this makes it any worse than shuttle loom denim, is debatable.
