Any suit, regardless of double or single, should never have the last button fastened.

For a double-breasted suit, it'd be depend if it was a 4 or 6 button jacket. If 4 button, then only the top button should be fastened; conversely, if it's a 6 button, then you can button the first 2 buttons but leave the last one unfastened.

To answer the question, double-breasted jackets look horrible open...they definitely should be buttoned at all times.

EDIT: And oh, for reference, the picture DJ Flame posted would be considered a 4 button, not a 6.

yeah, its too big unbuttoned. im not too keen on the look when buttoned with jeans either, but definitely wear it if you want, it just isnt my thing.

actually, it would work if you wore it unbuttoned in a more wack japanese way, but not if you try to look semi-tidy.

btw is that a tshirt under your shirt? :(
