Army Surplus Jacket Smell

I recently purchased a jacket at a surplus store in Philly for only $7.99, but the problem is it had a smell to it. It's very distressed and it probably still had remnants of dirt in it. I let it soak overnight and then threw it in the wash, but it still smells a little. Does anyone know what the best way to take the smell out? Should I just buy some febreze?

Yea i hate that smell too. I usually wash it in warm hot water in detergent then dry it. Then I usually spray febreze and/or smoke in it, then eventually the cigarette smells usually cover it up then it just smells like cigarettes.

yeah, definitely soak it a couple more times, maybe even like 2 or 3 more times for a couple hours
