low wattage bulbs that arent ugly?

the CFL bulbs, do they make any that put out the same light spectrum as a normal incandescent bulb? id like to replace my bulbs with something that has a lower consumption but a single 1 of these things is brighter than every lamp in my apartment. figured some of you interior design geeks might have some info on this?

edit - anyone ever use the ones that claim to be dimmable? any good?
