I own an old north face tnfx jacket

I understand that the gor-tex interlining will prevent me from getting wet with the jacket on, but the nylon shell is no longer waterrepellent and soaks with water when it rains. This is irritating because the jacket is big and bulky and when i take it off indoors i get wet.

now, st dudes who own vintage north face jackets, what have you done to replenish the water repellancy of the jacket?

I have read on the north face website that you can renew it by washing the jacket and ironing it, but you may also spray a new dwr coating on. I phoned the north face and they told me you can buy a treatment that you use in the wash. On the gor-tex website, they suggest against doing this. So now im confused.
