With respect, obladi, I strongly disagree. I use Photoshop daily and it will use all the processor speed and memory you can muster.

As for display, the Apple Cinema displays are nice. I am using a 23" one at work.

I'm with Tangerine. Running with a gig of ram verses 512 makes a huge difference in Photoshop. At times Illustrator might not need that much power but when you are clipping photos, creating massive complex patterns it starts to lag a lot.

Hey guys,

Tangerine is right, photoshop can take up a lot of your resources.

I use a Powermac G5 dual 1.8 with 2GB of ram, and a 20" cinema display. So far it's been awsome.

If you're serious I'd recommend going a Powermac with some extra ram. You can get get one better than mine for cheaper these days, and if you're really hardcore you could go their new "quad" G5 which is just nuts.

I'd also recommend the cinema displays. I was a bit hesitant about getting it at first, but it has been a huge benefit when designing. Now I can't live without it, that and my wacom tablet ;)

Otherwise the imac G5s will work well, but you will probably have lots of waiting times if you're working on large files.

Rock On
