Japanese Public Holidays

Dear all,

I am planning to go to Tokyo for 5 days, ideally from 20 - 23rd Dec. or 26 - 30th Dec. However, I want to know whether shops will be closed during that period, and whether I'll be affected by any festivals during that time of the year.
