why not just tell them the proper answer?

Because the sound for 'EU' does not exist in english, its pretty hard to explain. But in french its all over, so if you know how j'ai eu (i've had) or deux sounds, then you know the m-eu-lemeester sound. and the ee from meester sounds like hey (as guessed before).

I say deh-mel-uh-mee-ster but i'm sure i'm wrong.

I've heard that it's rafe simmonz but i feel too pretentious saying it so i just go with raff simmons.
