the jean shop

Have a pair of jeans from The Jean Shop (classic fit) and am interested in knowing what other brands/specific models (sugarcane, etc) might be similar in terms of quality of denim and fit.

Rag n bone and jean shop have very different denim.

I would compare Jean shop to one wash PRPS and numerous Japanese Levis-like jeans (45rpm, Sugarcane, etc.). There are a bunch of companies making traditionally cut 5 pocket raw and one rinse selvedge denim now, though I think many wouldn't be as good quality as Jean Shop denim.

jean shop jeans are made in the usa so are rag and bone (no. carolina). how can jean shop jeans be like japanese jeans when they're not made in japan? i never said jean shop and rag and bone have the same denim, i said they are made at the same mill. mills make different denims. and i'm still pretty sure lucky owns them. all of the sudden, everyone is an expert.

cool, thanks for the article. so is the loom used the most important factor in the equation? i had heard somewhere that the old levis looms had been bought up by folks in japan, so that japanese denim was kind of the market standard.

New, the Jean Shops classic fit and APC New Stds. fit are identical. You can reference all those APC posts and then use the transitive property....so forget about classic fittings Sugarcanes or 45 rpms since those have a high 501 rise. The denim for the APCs and Jean Shop is different so they break in/ bag out differently.

As for the quality of the denim, the Jean Shops denim is closer to Nudie RRs Selvage then the Apcs New Stds. In terms of build quality, I feel like the Jean Shop dips their denim more then Nudie and they use more material with better stiching and better selvage detailing (aka the fly area).

Why would you need more pairs of jeans with the same style? I would wear your Jean Shops to death.

not at all. jsut because one person or designer owns 2 companies does not make the other company part of it.

a dude is part owner of lucky and jean shop.. that means pretty much just that he is part owner of both. if lucky actually owned jean shop that would be a different thing
