During current Hold'em session you were dealt 212 hands and saw flop:

- 22 out of 38 times while in big blind (57%)

- 24 out of 40 times while in small blind (60%)

- 63 out of 134 times in other positions (47%)

- a total of 109 out of 212 (51%)

Pots won at showdown - 17 of 26 (65%)

Pots won without showdown - 50

Played waaaaay too many hands but I did well on this table tonight. Won 61.46% of the hands I was in.

ya, then that hand makes sense.

honestly wouldnt waste time playing anything less than $15 mtts

for sure. even at higher stakes, it's not a bad call on his part, given he has a gigantic chip lead and he can bust me out if he sucks out, which he did.

shufon, that is a crazy amount of opened hands. i tend to be a multi-tabling nit on the 2NL FR cash games, only opening 16-19% of my hands. last session i ran 6 tables for about 400 hands on each... ended up about break even, maybe a slight profit. not too worried about making a profit at 2nl right now, just because it's nearly impossible to make any moves as it's all tight ABC poker. i'm just trying to grind out my sign-up bonuses, then build up the roll to move up to 5nl soon. i could just deposit more money and move up immediately, but i think there is something to be said about working your way up the limits

i tend to prefer the cash games, as the variance seems less crazy and i like the emphasis on post-flop play. haven't dabbled in rush at all, but i do like playing PLO every now and then. it's just such a streaky game and i tilt like crazy, so i can only handle it in small doses. full ring PLO is kinda fun though, because at the lower limits people will chase with almost anything.

@Zubin - 6 handed $3/6 cash game. I was playing on 3 of these tables at the same time last night.. the other tables I saw between 20-25% of the flops.. I just kept getting cards on the table I posted.

@jayrock - Yeah, it's nuts, but no joke, AKs -> KK -> TT.. it's hard not to play a lot of hands with cards like that coming back to back.

Anybody here play live poker? I played live regularly for about 3 years before I started playing online.. still prefer playing in casinos.

i like playing live a lot, and have done pretty well the past few times playing 1/2 cash games. i'd eventually like to get into some live tourneys, but i've only played cash games to this point (outside of the occasional home game, anyway)

playing live is a bit more nerve racking because the roll is that much bigger, but live players are much worse than online players (IMO), so you can pull down some big pots.

^It's not so bad when you're playing the same thing online.

Completely agree with you about the quality of players though.. I think that's why I frequent casinos.. the amount of bad players willing to come in and donate $200-500 dollars to the pot is too lucrative.

i too prefer live play but just havent been able to make it out as much as Id like to.

I think ive only had about 5-7 live sessions and none of them have been losing sessions. Nowadays im a little timid to go back cuz i feel like ive been out of the loop for so long....i might just deposit on pokerstars to get back into the swing.

My bread and butter are those 18man $16 sng's....i crushed those so hard until i had to cash out :(

do you guys have cash on pokerstars to sell me? will paypal you funds

^You talking about real cash or T$?

If you need real cash, just do an instant e-check deposit on Stars man.

Also, fuck going all in short stack with KK and getting called by TT and a T coming on the flop. Going back to cash games.

edit: take the cash game comment back, just bought into a tourney again. haven't played tourneys in too long.

never made a serious initial deposit online, but some day i hope to. i play (when possible) and deal live daily. while at school we regularly play $1/3 dealers choice, $1/1 hold em/plo, $.5/1 hold em, and sporadic micro-stakes (.1/.2; .25/.5) games. when i'm back in raleigh there are regular home games i frequent when my bankroll exists. i play mostly 1/2 and 1/3.

on a good night dealing the 1/1 i make around $200 if i deal all night. the 1/1 game is usually the best, we'll start around 730 and the table usually won't break until 7 or 8 in the morning.

Yeah heads up can be a different beast than normal games. I started playing it to help me in heads up situations in cash/tourneys, but ended up liking it to the point that I still play heads up regularly.

You guys play strictly Texas hold'em or do you play other variations? I play mostly NL hold'em, but also some Omaha hi/lo, and when I feel like gambling, 5 card draw.

Haha, I started playing 5 card draw for pieces of candy when I was 6. Pretty sure it's the worst poker variation out there, but I still love it :\

PLO is a great game, keeps the fish alive longer, because most of the situations are 60/40s unlike in NLHE where you can get your money in with only a few outs.

twoplustwo is a great resource and if you are serious about the game check it out

yo, anyone recommend any good books?

i've skimmed through doyle's super system, and there's a lot of great stuff in there. didn't get too in depth with the highly technical stuff though. greenstein's ace on the river was also a good read, but i'm not sure how much i actually took away from the book as far as play goes. actually read helmuth's book too, but it was mostly for the comedy factor.

i have a gift card burning a hole in my pocket, so i was thinking about picking up tommy angelo's elements of poker and maybe hwang's PLO book

if you guys have any recommendations/suggestions of good literature, i'm all ears

honestly, message boards will do you a lot better than any book can (specific hand advice, mtt specific strategies, etc)

most books are outdated and written by players who are by todays standards obsolete

did you see the last wsop main event? Only one dude in the final 9 was over 30. Its a young mans game right now

^I agree with this. Talking to current players is the best way to learn.. the only publications I know of that give any decent advice at all on poker nowadays are the magazines in poker rooms at casinos.. I usually grab a few and read them while I'm nut peddling on a table. With that though, they usually only have a couple of sections on strategy while the rest of the magazine is just write ups about recent big tourneys and pro players :\

yeah, i've been lurking the 2+2 forums for awhile. some good stuff there. haven't gotten to the point of signing up yet, but i probably should. the degen thread is great for when i'm on tilt, lol. i've been treading through that gold mine for the past few days

Hellmuth is great for the game. Casual players always enjoy watching him on TV and so do amateurs/pros because it is hilarious when he goes into his tirade.

Speaking of Hellmuth, he recently left UB (good call) and I assume he will join with Full Tilt. I find it pretty hilarious that UB signed Prahlad Friedman (Spiritrock) as their next pro after Hellmuth and Annie Duke left.

DailyVariance.com has some of the best books (very expensive though)

most of the current twoplustwo books are decent. Harrington on holdem vol 1-3 is a good basis for a beginning tourney player.

Those video coaching sites like cardrunners are the best bet to get better.

I would have loved to see online poker be legalized

I wouldn't really say he can't handle being "outplayed".. I dunno if that's the right word.

Like in the video above, I wouldn't say Dragomir raising and calling a reraise preflop with 10-4s is Hellmuth being outplayed, it's just Dragomir getting lucky on the flop. Most blowups you see from Hellmuth are situations like this.

That being said, he still overreacts every time and ends up looking like a prick. I kinda empathize with him though cause I used to go on tilt horribly when people played shit poker and beat me.
