fake lvc in bangkok thailand

yo, i gotta tell you the story a local denim reseller told me.

they make fake lvc or other selvage jeans here, and sell them for really low prices to local dudes. (like 5 bucks or so) but the dude has to wear them 3-6 months without washing every day.( sounds familiar, right?) after that he brings the jeans back and gets his money back also. or even gets paid a little. folks are poor over here. so theres a lot of them doing that.

now the reseller goes on selling those jeans to japanese lads, who come over here to shop crazy. he sells them as authentic lvc or real vintage big e's or pre 60ies levis. whatever the jap dude is up to. cause the washes and cuts are on point. believe that. so denim savvy jap people end up paying a shitload of money for those jeans then. like up to 300$.

smart right?? they had some really nice aged levis selvage (fake ?) for about 50-70$ . but the best was an authentic vintage edwin selvage,fade was off the hook. but the guy didnt wanna sell. he said he wants to sell to some jap, cause he gets triple the money there. too bad.

I think the "Jap" used here is referring to Japanese people - whether or not Japanese people find it offensive to shorten the word, I wouldn't know.

Possibly, the more offensive "Jap" you're referring to is to describe Jewish females: Jewish American Princesses, (JAP). Two totally different kinds of people, I am neither, so I dont know if they find the terms offensive to their race.

Maybe some Japanese or Jews would like to comment.

nah i am just on vacation. go check out suan lum night market. there is a denim corner. they might have something in stock.

i just didnt want to write japanese all the time, so it was just an abbrivation. btw i like japs. especially the way they dress

I witnessed this as well. the amount of selvage is insane in bangkok. Expecially the weekend market. If fakes was not an issue, and just plain good selvage jeans were the bangkok would be the world's greatest denim spot. Beautifully worn selvage for the fraction of the cost. Some of their fake lEvi's in terms of quality are far superior then a lot of stuff I have seen including dare I say APC.

Yeah you guys should check out my posts in this thread about how some companies are producing worn in selvage denim for customers... its really distressing (excuse the pun!)
