i am just wondering what everyones opinions are on these recently (in the past 2 - 7 months) blown - up companies.

grail shirts and jeans - the new moraphine generation/buddhist punk

antik - the new true religion

red monkey - the new evisu

575 - the new seven

ed hardy - the new von dutch

Frankly, non of these designers/brands excite me and will probably be "out-of-fashion"/gone in 2-3+ years. They are all basically riding off the styles/derivative of other popular brands that are now losing steam.

I've seen some Antik and 575 jeans around here, nothing special really...just run of the mill distressed jeans, Antiks look kinda girly with the back pocket embroidery logo, wasn't aware they were doing men's jeans.

Red Monkey is way overpriced, not a fan of their super-baggy cut either. Don't really understand paying 500+ for raw denims with those embroidered back pockets as the only real standout details.

Never heard of/seen Ed Hardy.

edit: rajio pretty much hit it on the mark with his antik/rmc/575 descriptions.

some of the new men's antiks are pretty ridiculous looking with their gaudy rainbow colored designs on the back pocket and the stitching. yet some people will pay the money for it - prob the same people whose buying the ed hardy stuff.

The funny thing is Ed Hardy is the new Von Dutch, the dude that designed for them started Ed Hardy the brand. Man all these classic low brow artists are getting pimped. Who is that Christian Audigier going to target next, Ed Roth?
