Verb,

Hoping you can help me out here...

Should I be worried if someone (on ebay) is quoting me a pair of '04 raw jeans in european sizing (48) rather than US sizing (30") for jeans? Is there a lot of fake DH denim floating around?

Here's his response (in not so good English):

"hi i got the jeans, thry are a size 48 3eh10181018176 and 8276 these are longer leg the leg on short is 19.5 cm or 7.5 inches waist 16.7 inches laying flat. 2)8276 are 21cm wide, and waist 16.7 and will shrink 1.5 and leg 2 let me know witch one you want"

People giving european sizing is quite normal on ebay. There are very few fake dior's on ebay, supposedly the community sniffs them out and demands the auction be removed. Here's what I look for to try to spot fakes:

1) Metal piece on one of the back belt loops, can be seen here: http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imageserver.x/00000000/blacklabel/31jul12_1d.jpg

2) Darts on the back pockets with NO BEES embroidered in the middle, should just be a line, as seen here: http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/viewimage.x/00000000/blacklabel/31jul12_1c.jpg?pt=bidpay&sp=1

3) Leg sizing comes in either 19cm or 21cm

This sounds proper but I'm not sure about the shrinking part.. maybe he means stretch? Every Dior jean I've ever heard of is not supposed to be put anywhere near a machine washer/dryer, they all have instructions to Dry Clean Only, so I'm not sure why he would be discussing shrinkage.

Verb,

Thanks for the fake spotting tips. You pretty much see everyone highlight the first two in their auctions and have myself seen them on an authentic pair, but it's good to know that fakes are missing these attributes.

Would it be safe to say that authentic DH jeans only come with a tagged US size (i.e. 28 to 36", etc) vs a European size (46 to 54, etc)?

Thanks in advance.

Hmm...despite those instructions, I put my Dior jeans through the washer and they come out fine, leather label intact and everything. I mean, it's just denim...unless it's a pair of the more elaborate treated jeans such as lurex or waxed, I don't see a problem with putting the vintage/raw/plain jeans in the washer. Dryer is probably not a good idea though, that's with all jeans anyway, for me.

Verb (or anyone with direct experience),

Looking for your input.

Most jeans I see on ebay will have stitching all the way around the black leather tag... like the ones in this listing: http://tinyurl.com/a98md

I bid on and received a pair raw jeans (the ones I asked about earlier) from a 'kdog0479' (http://tinyurl.com/8ah9z for his other listings). The jeans had a black leather tag without the perimeter stitching... like the pair in this listing: http://tinyurl.com/d53y8 Everything else looks perfect on the jeans - the metal 'loop', the 'scars', the other tags.

Have you (or anyone else) seen a pair that came from a DH store (or a known authentice source) where the tag did not feature the stitching all the way around? It looks as though kdog and this other seller (who has listed a fair amount of real Cloak stuff) received some of the raw jeans at the same time... presumably from Europe since the jeans are tagged in EU sizes. I'm guessing there was a surplus from a previous season that these guys got their hands on. Also, the size tag (48) is next to the care tag, rather than by the black leather tag on many of the jeans featured on Ebay. Once again, perhaps the difference between US sold jeans and EU sold ones?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

The Dior Homme jeans that have the stitching on leather tag without the perimeter stitches, along with the European method of sizing (46, 48, etc...) are from their first collection of jeans, from S/S 03 (Follow Me). Then from Luster onwards they used the American "inch" sizing, presumably to avoid inconsistency in fit between sizes. The jeans kdog put up seem authentic.
