If the jeans are prewashed, they shouldn't really shrink at all if you wash then line dry. The jeans should probably fit true to size if they are prewashed, but if they are raw, unwashed denim, they should shrink down to the waist size on the lable.

If you put them in the dryer (not recommended) they will probably shrink a little but will stretch back out after wearing them.
