denim fabric

i was wondering if any one out there knows if it is possible to weave your own denim?

Intrested in experimenting and developing my own denim.

Would be grateful for any information.

you can buy denim fabric from a mill, but probably only in large quantities.

I think, however, there is a place in Germany you can buy per meter from vintage cone selvage.

Not easy. On an industrial scale the minimums and development costs will be heavy. Get a job in a mill is your best bet.

I guess you could set up an artisan production with a hand loom. You'd have to get hold of the yarn though. (indigo + plain).

My intention are not for large scale production and i have considerd handlooms. In theory it should be possible since as i understand denim is a form of twill. But has any one tried this at home or in a small studio? And if you have how was the result?

have not heard of anyone weaving own fabrics...but i do heard of a guy who bought a household washing machine just to do his own washing......amazing...
