Thinking about purchasing these frames, yet reluctant to drop $500 so easily. Does anyone have a pair? How do you like them? Are there any frames similar with the modern take on the Malcom X brow-line frames and a fraction of this retail price? Thanks.

FUCKING TITANIUM with plastic. That is a hard piece of frame to make stable. They're worth every penny. Way better than stussy glasses (now I'm being unforgivable with my hyping)... They've got the little nose things that fit my flat nose so well. The kind of frames I could wear my entire life :).

Okay enough with the hype.

i was the first non-dita employee to have tried these on. they were in the backroom, having JUST arrived that morning.

they are pretty substantial, in terms of weight, construction, and blaow effect. i gotta say though- it really really doesn't carry any BLAOW if you dress sufu style. you need to be someone on styleforum to make it pop like $500 frames should pop.

http://spectaclesforhumans.blogspot.com/2007/11/picture-perfect.html case in point:

Mr. Pretender - just aite. but not $500 aite.

random oldish white guy BLAOW

boooooooom yep.

id rather get the tenderloin x hakusan glasses

about half the price

and better nose pads

and they look awesome

edit- my bad, i was talking about n(n) x taihachiro not about tenderloins.

those are really really high quality too.

winq had them and i was admiring them like crazy.

the acetate on those is just wonderful- high quality as all hell and worked to a beautiful finish.

it's a bit clownish though, and i'd say 80% of sufuers would just get fucked in the ass by it (can't pull it off, such as in winq's case). still pulls it off properly, and he's just about the only person i've seen that does that.

these are the tenderloin x hakusan.

they're similar to the n(n) that i was talking about. 80% fucked in the ass, but quality is high as fuck. you dont even need to touch it to know this.

and regarding "better nose pads" -- that argument is whack. all it is is nosepads for minorities pEOpLez with gay noses, like me and people like fg0d with dicks up their nose.

it's "better" because it helps lift the frames into place, not better because it's better.

in any case, it's still a beautiful frame.

final thoughts before i stop responding to this thread because i whored it (oOPZ):

1) to thread maker: don't buy glasses without having tried them on before, especially $500 frames.

2) you can't really ask for "similar styles" to grand reserves with the suggestions that were thrown out. grand reserves are so much bigger in size than the other frames suggested. it changes the overall look of it just by how much more cheekbone you cover as opposed to, say, the hakusan tenderloins.

3) buy something that suits your face if it costs so much money. you're supposed to be after "those look good on you!" as opposed to "wutevz"

4) have a great day.

any more questions please pm.

the hakusans work well for most people (especially asians) because the lens / length is short as opposed to that infamous johnny-depp-style frame.

they are relatively inexpensive. i think the retail is 25800 yen or something. though they are collabos, they don't sell out quickly.

the beauty of taihachiros is that they are no-support acetate frames.

it lacks an internal metal support that most acetate / plastic frames have

it's a one-piece frame hand-carved by taihachiro.

lloyd optiques in harajuku stocks it but they keep jacking up the prices and since it's completely hand made, it's kinda hard to get hold of.
