Getting selvedge jeans hemmed

Recommended Posts

Quote: would they care if you brought apc over there?

Not at all...got a pair of APC Rescues hemmed there myself a few months back. They did a great job too. Used the Union Special chain stitching machine and the same thread as on their own jeans. Just tell them how much material you want taken off and how far from the edge of the material you want the stitching to be.

Of course, if you're six months into breaking them in, they might appreciate if you give the jeans a wash first...

Edit: just thinking about this further...if you do get a pair of APCs hemmed and you ever intend to put them through a washing machine (ie, you're not going to only ever dry clean them), be sure to do at least one wash before hemming. The length shrinks quite a bit from dry to first wash.

Sorry to hijack the thread with my first post but on a similar note I just had my 5ep taken up slightly. The length is perfect now but the stitching is AWFUL despite the fact I was told they would replicate the original hem.

I can't be bothered to go back and complain as I'm sure they won't be able to rectify the problem.

Can anyone recommend a good tailors in London that could save my favourite jeans?

Thanks in advance.

Ps great site - I've been lurking for a while.
