Cloverfield

thats good news. though i wondered how the american market would fuck up this movie and how much they would have changed the ending.

exactly

Anyway as for Cloverfield, although I liked it still felt a bit.. cheated.

I understand there is a backstory (which is fuckin weak coming from the guy who gives is Lost) but i was left wanting more. The bit after the credits was just silly giving the internet masses a reason to go on talking about a sequel for while..

also the CGI was poo imo but I really liked the guy behind the camera for the most of the movie, a lot of funny one liners from him..

The shaking camera and all the movement on the bigscreen made me so nauseous. Knowing I spent $8 to see the movie made me vomit. However I did get to see a trailer for the new Star Trek movie coming out.

I don't understand why people are so upset that you "never find out what it is or why it's there". What the fuck does it matter? This movie did extremely well in staying faithful to the point of view it's shot under and it made me feel like I was really with these characters the entire time. Would any sort of back story on the monster have done anything to add to the movie especially because of the point of view that it's shot under? I'm going to go out on a limb and say no. No matter what exlanation there would be A. it would ruin the perspective of the movie B. people would still bitch about it.

On a relalted note...before the movie started there were a bunch of teenagers in the audience yelling things back and forth to each other. I thought there was going to be a lot of talking and kids thinking they were hilarious by yelling shit at the screen when the movie started but it was dead silent the entire time. It was unreal. People were riveted. Then when it's over it's all "fuck that nigga. I'm tellin' everybody 'don't see that shit cloverfield! Don't see that shit!'". Which once again was awful funny because your loud fucking mouth was shut during the whole movie. People don't appreciate being entertained.

I think this is the major consensus I got from a majority of people I know who saw it so far. Might go this weekend.

In regards to Cloverfield...I left early because I was seriously going to throw up. I'm sure it didn't help that I was in the 4th row...

I personally loved this movie. I'd been tracking it for a while online, and I was just praying that it wasn't going to turn out all SOAP-ish. Fortunately, my prayers came to fruition and I was much more than satisfied by the movie. Loved it all. Except for the stupid ass teenagers sitting a couple rows behind me that would not shut up for the life of me. The only thing I'm still afraid of is that they're gonna make a sequel and fuck up all the greatness of the original. I've read lots of interviews and things of the cast, and because of the last scene (it's the one with Beth and Rob talking to the camera on a Coney Island ferris wheel, and something fell into the water behind them <-- the monster) I have a bad feeling they might make a sequel.

PS: Interviews with the cast and crew revealed that the monster was something from another planet, and the reason that all that destruction happened was because it was a baby monster (believe it or not) and it was suffering from separation anxiety. Trust me, I'm not shitting you.

The shaky cam ruined this movie. And, it was all done in post so hopefully a non-make-you-wanna-vomit version comes out on dvd.
