Cheap Furniture stores NYC

Are there any New Yorkers out there who can tell me the best places to furnish my apartment without breaking the bank?

Obviously I know about IKEA, but is there anywhere else worth checking out?

I am particularly in need of a bed!

Try West Elm. They have a store in DUMBO. They're especially good for beds.

when i was looking for couches (mind you, a step above ikea but down from those joints that have sleek couches for 5gs)..a place I was highly considering getting a sofa from was whiteonwhite, which is on white street. http://www.whiteonwhite.com

They make really good reproduction "inspired" furniture for a fraction of the cost (about 1,000.00 for a nice, modern low 3 seater sofa)

And then there's the obvious option of hiring a mover or renting a truck (both will run you about 40-60.00) and going around and getting stuff from craigslist.org
