5ep fit

are 5ep's true to fit? if it helps, i wear a 30 in nudie, diesel, and lvc.

My 5EPs are size 34 and fit good, for comparison I wear:

34 in PRPS

35 STF 501s

36 in Rogan

34 in Earnest Sewn

If I lay the jeans flat, measure across the waistband, and double it: 35.75"

So maybe they run a little big? Mine have been worn a lot and may have stretched.

soultek, what kind of 5EP do you have? Can you post pictures?

I tried on a pair of 5EP at AB Fits in San Francisco, called the "bootcut," but it wasn't bootcut at all and was quite slim. Too slim for my tastes, in fact. I'm a 34, and the size 34 fit fairly well, but the cut was too tight for me.

I posted pics of the jeans some time ago, but I can post them on if you'd like. I prefer loose jeans (always some slack around the crotch and thighs), and my 5EPs are probably the slimmest jeans I can wear otherwise they'd be too damn tight. Their bootcut model is a slight bootcut. I have the straight leg version with green cast indigo. I think it was mislabeled at the store: straight down dark worn. They were one wash and sitting next to their worn counterparts.

Here's the thing: they don't stretch as much as most jeans I've had, and it takes a lot of wear to get them to stretch at all. So I wouldn't recommend getting a size you are not comfortable with right away.

I think i tried on the bootcut and remember that it was cut much slimmer in the thigh area than the straight leg, way too tight for me. Maybe you tried on the bootcut but it was so slight you didn't notice.

looking at the pics again, they look kinda baggy when flat, but are slimmer when on. my camera is out of batteries, i'll post pics with them on soon.

The denim used for these jeans is noticably different than other quality japanese denim i have and have tried on. Very dense, might be quite a heavy weight. Very comfortable though unlike other dry or one wash jeans i have had.

Thanks for the info. That sounds right. The bootcut pair I tried on may have had a slight bootcut, but like you said, it was so slim in the thighs that my legs looked like sausages and I didn't even notice.

I really like their denim and styling, though, so maybe I'll try on a pair of the striaght leg if I ever get a chance. They are so expensive, though. ($330 at the store I saw them in.)

damn, that's more than what I've seen. I paid 300. I saw them in NYC for 300 as well. Check American Rag in SF, if they don't have it, maybe they can send one from the LA store.

d'artisan is 15 oz, too heavy for me to wear every day at the moment. I also love the greencast denim, and the 5ep fit is definitely more modern.

5EPs were next on my list (I want greencast!). I didn't know they cost $330 though. I convinced myself i'd never pay more than $265 (RRDS). Maybe I'll put aside a bit every once in a while and pick them up when i'm done breaking in the nudies.

I guess they were actually $300, now that I think about it. The owner of AB Fits, I believe his name was Chris, offered me a 10% discount because I was hemming and hawing over the jeans, which would make it about $270 ... same price as the RR.

However AB Fits only had one or two pairs of 5EP when I was in there. American Rag has more.

AB Fits is a great store and the staff are great too. I'll post pics tomorrow hopefully when the sun is out and i can get some new batteries for my camera going. I'm close to washing them for the first time also.

5EPs are sized large by Levi's 501 standards, but in today's world the majority of jeans that people buy are sized larger than the tag states. Compared to jeans that I'm used to buying, they run a little small.

I have their "bootcut" jean and yes it is only slightly bootcut but I think that's the way bootcut should be. I'm not the biggest fan of slim jeans and sometimes straight leg is too tight at the ankle. 5EP's version of "bootcut" is just perfect.
