there is an old woman in siricco who says shes been doing a leather alterations business for over 30 yrs (iirc she only works in weekend). i was going to alter one b4 but decided against it so can't really comment on the quality..sorry if that doesn't help

the tailor in collins st (that u suggested DJI) tailored my seacoat nubuck jacket and they did a pretty good job. I had the shoulders taken in (it was too wide) and also they made the coat more fitted. Cost alot though

yeah I'll probably take it to olga tomorrow and see what she thinks, dunno what I'll decide if it costs like $200 or more though. :/

last time i altered a coat it costs like 200 and still ends up fitting really bad. no more altering since then

When you have something expensive altered you have to let them know if you're not happy with the fit. I've sometimes had 2 or 3 fittings for jeans to get the fit exactly how I want it.

But in the end, ~10% cost for alteration is pretty good.

yeah but the thing is this is leather, not woven fabric. you can't keep restitching it as it weakens the leather.

guess I have 3 options:

1) spend a couple of hundred dollars to have it altered, risk ruining the jacket

2) cut my losses and give up the jacket I helped organise, put money towards tickets to sweden to teach richard how to use a tape measure

3) buy protein shakes and ask selkies for bodybuilding advice, grow enormous traps.

But the same goes for the first fitting - be finicky. And of course it is better to err on the side of conservative, because as you said there will be visible holes should something need to be let out.

it looks more noticeably boxy in the shoulders than the pic implies, didn't take a full shot though. don't really dig the margiela style dropped shoulders on a leather jacket, need to get something done. forgot to include an arrow pointing up stating "disappointed face, not shown".
