Karl Lagerfeld jeans...Made in Japan??

I was looking at a pair of black (non-selvage) jeans from the now defunct Karl Lagerfeld label that was being produced, from what I remember, by Hilfiger, and they say that they are Made in Japan on the inside tag. The quality seems fine, but the $395.00 original tag on the pants certainly is telling of the label's short future that followed. It seems to me like Karl thought he could make a Dior Homme-like label, but charging the same price as Hedi?

Well, he even said himself that he lost all that weight so he could fit in some Dior hommos. Now that's dedication.

the 'Karl Lagerfeld' line is, yes. but i'm pretty sure he's releasing a new K by Karl Lagerfeld line or something.
