i'm compiling a list of desirable skills that i would like to develop. some of these i am already proficient in, most of these i am not good at at all.

here are a few that i've come up with so far:

1) basic wilderness and emergency survival skills

2) basic first aid

3) fighting

4) self-defense

5) speak english, spanish, french, german, arabic, mandarin and japanese. italian or portuguese is extra credit.

6) play and perform a musical instrument

7) know how to dance the major ballroom and latin dancing styles.

8) know how to swim and tread water

9) know worldwide current events

10) know world history

11) know how to cook

12) know how to sew

13) know tactical driving

14) high level of physical fitness

15) know how to sail

16) know how to use firearms

17) know domestic construction and repair techniques

18) know basic electrical theory

19) know basic accounting, economics, investing and how financial markets work

20) street smarts - know how scams, hustles, and juxes work.

21) know how to repair and maintain a car (change oil, change tires, change brakes, etc.)

22) know how to ride a motorcycle

23) know how to hotwire a car

24) know the basic concepts behind the major religions of the world

25) know how to gamble

26) know how to kick game to a girl

27) know how to be an incredible lover

28) know how to ski or snowboard

29) know how to give a very good massage

30) know how to meditate

31) play decent chess

32) play decent pool

33) know how to skateboard

34) being able to sing well

35) being able to mix popular drinks and cocktails

36) understanding of human psychology for use in coercion and negotiation

Everyone should know how to give a world stopping massage.

No gay greasy stroking or limp wristed rubbing to get you some action. Proper Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, pressure and technique.

I would suggest meditation techniques are essential for contemporary development as well, though I don't have to imagine many would disagree.

Perhaps an encyclopedic knowledge of at least one type of musical history? Ideally jazz I guess.

Other than that you got it all your bases covered and I have a bit of work to do over the weekend. If I can find time between my regular clients, fire department shifts, bonsai gardening course, cage fighting, playing shakuhachi and working on a universal language for Orphans.

- avoid hypothermia if you fall in an ice lake (saw this on man vs wild show. supposedly its warmer for you to take off your wet clothes and rub/pack yourself with snow. madness)

very important. used to practice this as a kid. not easy at all. there are several methods, i suggest getting a survival book, reading up and practicing.

- harvest condensation for water

you can get quite a lot of water from dew on plants in the morning. also, if you have access to plastic, you can create a condensation pit. it's pretty easy. again, refer to a book.

these are all great skills. being able to sing pretty well has been surprisingly useful to me. i will put this on the list.

cotton, btw, i know American Sign Language but when i went to japan, i couldn't communicate at all with a deaf japanese person. my friends would communicate with her by writing out the japanese words phonetically in the air.

so, i don't know how useful knowing several sign languages is....

comes in handy when negotiating, picking up women--basically, getting what you want.

knowing psychology is a good thing to know.

however, i have met psychology majors who were completely out of their minds.
