Selvage denim questions

Ok, like alot of people have and will, i have been extremely interested in this whole selvage premium denim stuff.

Now i have some questions, i think i have some idea what selvage entails. I drew a diagram as to what i think selvage is, in that the horizontal thread is continuous as apposed to a new thread for each horizontal row on a regular denim

was i correct?

as well, i read about fake selvage denim, would the seam pictured be considered fake selvage? It is fuzzy on the ends, i really cant tell if its frayed or not, im just interested. The vintage levis repro and selvage denim is extremely interesting, just as the whole Lo thing is

is this fake?

im sorry im just getting into this now, and not 6 months ago

some other questions

dry selvage denim is produced for wearing them long periods of time in mind?

raw denim has that sheen to it because it hasnt been treated to a wash?

premium denim washes are more expensive because they are hand rubbed as opposed to painted/dyed in washes?

People in niketalk already answered your questions but first let me say in keep superfuture out of NT there are far too many doche bags there and if someone really needs superfuture they'll find it without NT. I found superfuture a few months before i even knew what niketalk was let alone was a member. If you want answer to denim questions ask them here not NT that just brings the fucking morons of NT here.

And yes your picture is correct, and those are selvedge denim, the way it looks will vary from brand to brand somewhat. dry and raw denim are basically the same as far as i understand, in the sense that their raw and unfinished denim. and your last question i would assume premium denim would vary somewhat from brand to brand but i would guess some are like that.

Only if it's being passed off as shuttle loom denim. That looks like the selvedge edge of a projectile loom denim, aka 'fringe selvedge'. Hard to be 100% sure from the photo.

Many selvedge denim fans have adopted that way of wearing jeans, but not, it's not produced with that in mind. It is just an old way of weaving denim.

raw denim has that sheen to it because it hasnt been treated to a wash?

Yes.

premium denim washes are more expensive because they are hand rubbed as opposed to painted/dyed in washes?

Yes, amongst other things like just hiking the margins up! (as many cheap jeans may also have many hand finished processes).
