So I've been seriously lacking on my reading game recently, besides the required reading for educational purposes, and magazines/internet crap.

I'm putting it out there for all of you to point me in the direction of some good reads. Something inspirational perhaps.

Anything goes!

so don't read zarathustra. it will destroy you and everything you care about.

too late. i'm destroyed. can't even spell his name. icon_smile_sleepy.gif

read to understand. make your own call on where you stand on things. but...ignorant is bliss. don't read if you're afraid. read goethe, he's much more civilized...and he doesn't bite.

read the dark tower series by stephen king. this is THE epic story of our time. also if you havent read any of the frank miller batman graphic novels i strongly recommend reading them, particularly the dark night returns. thats a close #2 behind the dark tower series as the best thing ive ever read. anything neil gaiman is a good read as well, especially the sandman graphic novels.

Trainspotting- Obviously, you can see where I got my name.

The IRA- Tim Pat Coogan- History of the IRA from the 1920's to present

The Westies- TJ English- About the Westies gang and Mickey Featherstone in Manhattan.

A Midnight Clear- I forgot who wrote this, but it's the best school assigned book I've read.

Homeland- Into the Heart of Hatred- Again, I forget the author but this is a fascinating look at the racist-right wing movements in England, continental Europe, and America.

American Psycho- Some will love it, some will hate it. Since this is a fashion board, it deserves a mention.

Chopper- Mark Brandon Reade- First hand account of Australia's notorious gangster. This dude is fucking sick.

Mario Puzo's Mafia stuff is interesting.

For cheap, but enjoyable books with no substance, I reccomend Deane Koontz's work. If you're into crime/mystery I reccomend Michael Connelly's stuff. I'm almost finished with the Narrows and it's pretty good

"i just found a sepparate peace in my bookshelf,"

Naaaa. That shit is gay.

anything chuck palahniuk, especially SURVIVOR

both of max berry's books - JENNIFER GOVERNMENT and SYRUP - the first being about NIKE trying to keep street cred by knocking off kids who buy their shoes....very appropriate for superfutureshoppers....

bret easton ellis - GLAMORAMA...better than american psycho

bill bryson - in a sunburned country - if you've been to OZ or plan to go, you'll know why this book kills it...

"Chopper- Mark Brandon Reade- First hand account of Australia's notorious gangster. This dude is fucking sick." - the movie is pretty rad too...a bit hard to find...

Yeah "Chopper" is excellent, so is Eric Banner who went on to be the HULK!

A freind of mine's freind lives in Oz and drinks in the same bar as Mark Chopper, he's a dirty alco. Anyway she asked him to get his autograph, he scribbled on a VB beer coaster "Dear Nicky, never plead guilty, Love Chopper", excellent. It sits proudly on her mantle.

Oh, I heard he did anti drink driving ad's in Aussie? Did any of you Aussie guys know or see them?
