i guess maybe supreme has helped to group these two together, but both run in very similar circles.

are they at all close? worked together?

I know clark is primarily a movie maker, where as richardson is a photographer, but can anyone tell more?

Don'tcarefor...

Before making movies Clark was a stills photographer, and in '71 shot the seminal book Tulsa, showing the sex and drug fuelled life of wasted youth in his hometown. No one had really shot and published stuff this hardcore before, it really opened people's eyes and caused uproar

And in his own way Terry Richardson has continued to push the boundaries. Maybe not so much on the junk front, though he was an addict for a while. But the sex side, which is now pretty commonplace and used in advertising in ways that Larry Clark's stuff never could have been!

Whether they're tight I don't know.

I'd imagine Terry would be the first to acknowledge how important Clark's early work was, but they're from different generations. Bob Richardson, Terry's father, was a pretty extreme photographer in his heyday too, so maybe there is a connection from back then.

Either way, seems like Supreme recognises the importance of the work of these mavericks and its good to see it introduced to a new audience. Check the work of Nan Goldin too if you like this kind of stuff.
