@düm, mac icons can also handle transparency, so you could just make a transparent icon instead of selecting a small portion of the background for your icon.

it really bugs me when people have a pic that doesn't fill the screen just floating there (mine was puzzle pieces on a white field so it looked like it was a puzzle sitting on white desktop, though I since just full sized it so it extends past the edges of the screen).
