I am in NYC for a week starting tomorrow.

What to do? What do you advise? What's got to be done/seen/eaten/heard/etc.

I am not much for shopping, all else is game though.

This might be a far shot, I once took a chess class and my professor would always talk about the famous chess spots in NYC. I have forgotten them all. There was one building in particular that he loved, something like the NYC chess club headquarters, which I would very much like to visit. A quick google developed nothing on this subject. Does anyone here know about anything like this?
