MC Solaar. He's French. His shit is ill. Good story rhymes and stuff, but I guess you have to speak French to understand. They have a completely different scene in France. Totally not thug rap or anything.

MC Solaar is the shit btw, but only his older records. i consider IAM's L'École du Micro d'Argent to best the best record ever with Endtrocucing so i cannot possible recommend it more. their newer records have been a little weak though (they even fucking did a colabo with Behonce...). other french artists that should be mentionned

Supreme NTN, a shame they stopped doing records together.

Fonky Family, really dope shit.

the whole IAM familiy is dope.

Dj CutKiller compilation are real nice

on the topic of french hip hop, shurik'n is also good, lunatik also deserves a listening

i just got amazingly tired of french hip hop about 6 years ago, so im biased, but before that i listened a lot of it.

This is some great stuff. I know it's mainstream, but I've been into Booba lately, he's a guilty pleasure of some sort.

I know a bit about German hip hop, no really underground shit though.

1. The current scene sucks

2. The scene was amazing about 10 years ago.

Probably my favorite German hip hop is Freundeskreis. Very jazz&raggae influenced, amazing shit. "Wenn der Vorhang Faellt" is a good place to start. Some of their members are doing solo stuff now, Max Herre is my favorite.

Another absolutely amazing artist is Afrob. He is above average lyrically, but what really sets him apart is his amazing ear for beats and his swagger.

A recent favorite of mine is MAdoppelT, one of the few decent hip hop related things to come out of Austria. His website is here:

Another one of my favorites is Sido. While he's quite popular, he has some hilarious lyrics and a cool voice as well as the occasional ridiculous beat. I also like that most of his videos show some of the poor districts of Berlin. Having been there, that's what it actually looks like, minus the guy in a mask rapping of course.

rip slyme, they have more of mixture-type (rock sounding ala limp bisquit sometimes...i don't know) sound, don't they? i went to school with illmari (or keisuke, don't tell nobody). he's actually have swedish or dannish, but doesn't suck cock or speak swede-dane talk like superstar though...

not a fan of m-flo, but m-flo has a great remix album. the one that ufo and konishi yasuharu have remixes on.

i wouldn't consider dragon ash hip hop...

your best bet is probly giant panda. they are from LA but they have a japanese MC who either raps in japanese or in broken elgish which is the ebst shit ever. they are on thes one's label form people under the stairs and their record fly school reunion is stellar.

shuruk'n (spelling) is also really good french hip hop form the mid 90s with a good wu tang feel to them. i have a couple francophone record i got in quebec, but they dont compare.

trust me, giant panda. theres also english on every track so its not so hard to get into.
