I usually enjoy Jeff Van Gundy, but dude's got it wrong. During today's ABC broadcast of the Suns-Magic game, he expressed a belief that only four teams have a legit shot at winning the championship this season: Lakers, Spurs, Heat, and Celtics. How in fuck did he leave the Bulls off that list? They've been dominating everyone, and doing so without some of their best players. Not to mention the fact that they've performed exceptionally well against the association's best teams, while the Heat and others have had difficulty against elite competition. LA, San Ant, and Boston are serious contenders, no doubt, but the Bulls belong in that conversation. I don't believe Miami has much of a chance, at least this season. And how about Rose? Guy's elevated his game to such a level that he has to be included in any list of the NBA's top five players. I can't think of too many others who can come out and struggle in one facet of their offensive game, modify their approach quickly, then fucking dominate for the balance of the game.

Just had to say, Jeff Van Gundy is kind of an idiot. I've never really cared for the dude, but his announcing style is so annoying to me. He just says shit for people to remember he exists and to prevent disappearing in his brother's shadow. Example: His stance on "flopping." Everyone hates flopping, but Jeff Van Gundy will consistently (and incorrectly) criticize a call because he wants everyone to remember that he hates floppers. He needs too much attention.

On the Bulls making the championship though:

I genuinely think they could beat Boston and Miami, actually. I was also thinking how they took Boston to Game 7 with a far less skilled team. Rose + Deng now >>>> Rose + Gordon then. Rondo can't deal with an aggressive Derrick Rose, either. The fact that D Rose is so big helps take a lot from Rondo's game. And the addition of Carlos Boozer down low, more consistent perimeter shooting, and a coach that knows the Boston system pretty well, I'd agree that they have a nice chance at beating Boston. Better than anyone in the East, at least. (Not saying that they WILL, but they have the best chance, no doubt).

And for inconsistency reasons, I also think they'd beat Miami. Provided that they don't get upset by someone (NY)

What??!?!?!? Jeff Van Gundy fading into the shadow of his brother? LOLZ. Let me know when Stan Van Gundy knocks out a 1st seed with a 8th seed team with no depth that barely made the playoffs in a much tougher, more physical era of basketball where there werent 30-40 FTAs a game.

^That's exactly it though, this shit happened in 1999. In 5 years let's see what percentage of the active NBA audience (outside of NY) will know much about Jeff Van Gundy's coaching career.

if you were of at least a certain age when it happened you will never forget that throat-slitting/ankle-grabbing [ll] playoff series

Rambis!!!!! FFFFFFUUUUUUU

oh ok fine, fuck rambis, but more than anything FUCK rick kamla.

maximum douche.

and now that it's over can we admit that kevin love's "historical" streak was the most hyped story of the year outside of blake griffin doing anything?

much respect to the dude, but the idea of making "modern" history is ridiculous. What he did is amazing but not only did Wilt have 227 consecutive double-doubles, he had three separate streaks of 227, 220 and 133. That adds up to over 580 double doubles. None coming in a streak that didn't more than double Love's.

I'm the first to admit that comparing pre-merger stats is dubious, but we aren't talking about some close call, Love isn't even in the ballpark.

So honestly, if Love isn't pissed, then people need to stop being ridiculous on his behalf. (imlookinatyourickkamla)
