i know vintage seems to be the way to go, but are there any designers producing some nice ones atm?

still find a pair of tight black jeans, oversized white tee and a black/dark slim vest is a close to an unbeatable look

Despite a pretty weak spring collection, Unis has a dope vest/waist-coat. Dark color, sort of greyish/blueish or something - some kind of twill - shit, I don't know - but it was nice; fit well, slim, simple.

guys i need a black waistcoat, i've looked everywhere but i can't find one i like. i saw an ann d tweed one in charcoal grey, but i need black.

is pretty much the only one i like, but it's too expensive and i dont think it would go with black slacks and a black bowtie and i thought waistcoats were supposed to cover your waist. i also want to use it for casual purposes.thanks guys

The problem with the fit isn't so much the vest, but the dudes pants are pretty low-rise, which doesn't really jive with the cut of vests, generally speaking. That said, I wouldn't bother getting something like that (it looks incredibly typical, high-gorge plain vests are weak for a formal outfit anyway), especially when you can get this, a waistcoat:
