Jomon Cut Question

lowrider

Recommended Posts

In doing my searching, I've found a lot of posts on the dyeing process and cotton, etc. but not a lot about the Jomon's cut.

In one of the threads it was stated that the Jomon's have a slimer cut / fit than the PBJ AI 001 and Oni Purple. I was told that the PBJ and Oni are similar to a '47 cut (anti-fit).

My question is how much slimer is the Jomon? Could you compare the Jomon's cut to a Dior 21cm? I'm asking this because I'm considering getting the Jomon instead of the SExIH (DH 21cm repro) but I need a slim jean.

Thanks!

Lowrider afaik the Jomons are a contemporary cut, that is, they're not inspired by anything which imo is nice and refreshing. I tried a pair on in December and (and this is gonna sound odd) couldn't stop staring at the mirror in the changing room - the fit is insanely good. Some however have commented that it seems to best suit the atypical Asian body shape. Given that it's a Japanese label, it's reasonable to conclude that the cut was biased. The staff at the NY store are super helpful via e-mail, I;m sure they're the same over the phone and in person. Good luck.

The Jomons have a fairly high rise and roomy in the derriere. The thigh and leg is pretty slim but not tight. It's pretty classic and straight cut. Different cut form Dior's 21 cm. What makes Jomon is it's uniqueness in color and texture.

Thanks aubrgene! I guess I'll stick with the SExIH01s. The Jomon's don't seem to be a limited edtion like the SExIH01s so I may get a pair later.

I don't remember if the SExIH jeans will use the 21 oz. denim. I have the S634 IH and love it.. just not sure how a heavy denim will affect the Dior design or pattern. I know what you mean though, it's a tough choice. You're right, the Jomons will always be there:-) Are you going to SF so you can have the pick of the litter?

The SExIH will be using 21oz denim. I won't be able to make it to SF but I have a friend who'll head down there to pick up a pair for me. I'm gonna get the blacks.

Kinda wondering what size I should get. I've seen posts of people claiming their IH634s are stretching 2 sizes above tag after wearing. I'm a 31" waist and shrinking. I think I may have to get a 29W which should be 28.5 since it's an overdye. That means that it should stretch out to a 30W after wear...

i have to disagree with some here, the jomons i have are slightly looser than the lvc 47s i have after they were both soaked and washed a few times. the lvc in the thigh and the waiste is a little thinner and therefore a little tighter.

we are not talking much difference here, maybe 1/2 inch in total on the circumference of the leg and 1/2 inch or less on the waiste but that 1/2 inch makes one jean feel right next to the skin whereas the other one feels just slightly more loose, not much but its a subtle difference.

i personally like the fit of the jomons.. also i have the sc hawaii and this is the cut i was looking for the entire time, not a relaxed cut but just not as slim fit as say the 47s, its a great silouette again the legs are just a bit fuller without the seat being too full.

good luck.

Must be nice to have a 'shopper' in the City. I may have to drive, no biggie since I could visit friends while I"m there. I normally wear a 30/31. I bought the 31W and it did stretch. The size to me is perfect -- nestled comfortably on my hips. They did shrink after a hot soak though. Yeah.. the black ones should be amazing. Ayn has a pair of black IH which he posted a while back.

Thanks for the input sbrguy. I'm trying to limit myself to 4 new jeans at a time (time = a couple of years) so I get a good rotation and they are all a little different to suit different occasions. I already have 3, and need a slim jean as my 4th. I'm back on wanting the SExIH again since it better fits my requirements for the time being. Mahalo!

Thanks for the information aubrgene! I think I'm going to go with a 30W and let it stretch out a bit.

How much did your 31W stretch out? I wonder if overdyes have the same stretching characteristics as regular indigos?

It streched out about 1.5- 2 inches. It did shrink back after a hot soak. It just depends on the look you're going for. If you like them tighter on the waist or not. :)

I see. I know that denim will stretch and contract a number of times before it "stabilizes" and doesn't stretch or contract much. I'm not sure how many washes to wear cycles that requires but I know they don't retain that elasticity forever.

I think the DH 21cm has a lower rise than the IH634s no?
