Best ryokan in Tokyo and cheapest way to get a flight to TKO

The title of the thread really says it all. There is a slight chance that I might return to Tokyo for a second time in early June. If any of you could recommend a good/cheap ryokan and the best way to get a cheap flight from Seattle to TKO it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

There are ryokans in Tokyo, but if you have time to travel a bit, I recommend staying at spots in the countryside with hot springs access. Hakone is pretty close from Tokyo (2hr train ride maybe?), and it is a bit of a tourist destination. Most ryokan there are tapped into hot spring.

If you have a decent working budget, I'd go budget in tokyo, and splurge on a nice trip to the countryside. Kyoto and Kanazawa are both great desinations.

In Hakone - this one takes the prize as the top ryokan www.gorakadan.co.jp/ (very flash heavy btw) I think. I always wanted to stay there but I was always stuck in a corporate retreat nearby and could only stare in envy from afar. Jessica on Honeyee stayed there and blogged about it sometime last year.

a lot of japanese travel agencies carry "satogaeri koukuken", which roughly translates to home-coming ticket. they are relatively inexpensive, especially from west coast.

I am a big fan of kayak.com.

It is an amazing website that lets you compare prices with a crap load of criteria to limit your search results.
