Ottobar in Baltimore

Anybody been there? I'm interested in how the venue is. Going to see Girl Talk perform there in April.

A little late, but the Ottobar is a solid rock venue--I assume Girl Talk will be a good time there.

Neighborhood is not fantastic, but not "The Wire" material at all. Usually plenty of street parking, and a cheap lot next door if you need it. Cheap National Bohemian beer. If you get there early enough, there's a sort-of balcony that runs up the left side of the room that lets you get real close to the acts, but the ceiling is low, the sound isn't as good up there, and it's better to sit up there than stand, so the main floor might be better if you intend to, you know, dance. Good small space overall, and bar service is quick even when it's sold out.

In some cases I prefer the Ottobar to the Black Cat in DC; fewer talkative scenesters and a number of good sight lines. The only negative, in my mind, is the door/ticket system is not always a well-oiled machine.

i'm coming down from philly for the show. girltalk doesnt have any philly dates for a little and from the times i've seen him it's been a blast. i've been to ottobar for hardcore shows before though.
