i just read all of Shamo today only to find out it ended prematurely because of some lawsuit

on the last volume of 20th/21st Century Boys. it dragged on a bit near the end but it was a really enjoyable read.

in the process of watching all of Patlabor series ... i tried watching the movies when i was a kid and was so bored but they're GOOD now that i can understand whats going on.

would recommend the movies for anyone into detective/drama/mech ... also the TV series are a little goofy but there are some gem storylines in there.

try Ristorante Paradiso and Mushishi. the stories/topics are different (especially Mushishi) but both series also have a relaxed pacing if that's what you're looking for (edit: talking about the anime, woops).

well it was mostly about artwork and style (fuck substance) and there are a few suggestions that you gave that look cool to me so i'll give em a shot. Blue Heaven looks dope so I'm going to start with that.

i just find that if i cant get into a manga's artwork then i get bored and quit reading. I've always been like this. Style over substance. I couldn't play games that I didn't like the style of either.
