so i inherited these capezio tap dance shoes (yes i missed the diors).

they were free and while i like them i hate the sounds that the tapdancing metal makes as i walk.

has anyone removed these before? there are screws on the heel, but the metal in the front of the sole seems like it would be more complicated to remove. has anyone removed the all the metal, or from one part of the shoes.

how does the metal's removal affect the overall feel and balance?

while i doubt i'll get to many responses thanks for reading.

capezio has regular jazz dance shoes too... save yourself trouble and spend 30 bucks. and aside from that, learn how to tap.

haha... i agree. learn to tap.

i'm doing the lindy hop, but i'd like to pick up tap once my jazz steps are better executed. but this has nothing to do with your shoes.

I actually bought a pair of tap shoes out of my own volition (gasp), with the intention of removing the taps. It's pretty easy, all you do is take a screwdriver to them and víola, they're off. I would recommend getting them soled with something harder, as the leather underneath is quite soft, but after that's all said and done with, they make quite a nice, soft pair of dress shoes.

yeah jazz helped my tap a lot but i pick tap over any dance form. it's super addictive idk why.

yeah having swing danced for more than 3 years i still suck at jazz steps. imo you'll need to be good at jazz in order to be any good at tap. yes it's super addictive. once the music pulses through your veins your body just moves by itself.

Then send me the metals, I'll put them in my converse and go tippity tappity toe while catching the train.

Wow I actually wouldn't mind doing that except for I threw them at people. They're also really good for that as well, apparently.
