Can anyone recommend recommend a good tailor in NYC?

I need a good tailor in the city to alter a button up dress vest. Anyone have any good suggestions?

Yea man theres a really good guy on Rivington Street right next to the restaurant Teany. The guy there is very very good and cheap as well.

i read about prince street cleaners from some dude from some dude, and it wasn't that good, and it wasn't that cheap.

At first I was going to comment "good god there are a million threads on this damned topic!" But then I did a search and a quick look and produced little results specific to nyc. I think it's because styleforum has always answered this question better.

I reccomend you take alterations to Barneys NYC. The tailor in Beverly Hills is awesome and prices there have always been straightforward:

Darting a shirt: 15 bucks

Slimming sleeves: 30

I asked if I could bring in non-barneys purchased clothing to the tailor there and he said it was okay. I even had a well constructed and lined cord blazer slimmed down, armholes raised and sleeves skinnied down for less than 50 bucks.
