is resoling wallabees an easy process that any shoe repair will do?

Interestingly enough I was in a shoe repair shop yesterday doing a photography assignment, and the owner said it was difficult to resole wallabees.

He had a bunch of crepe soles laying around, but he said he prefers to put regular rubber soles on wallabees after the original sole has worn down. I bet that would look pretty wack though.

none of my local shoe repair guys will touch crepe any more... i sent mine off to resole america, who did a fine job.

i've considered doing this, just trying to justify spending $55 on resoleling something that costs $80 new retail...

totally understandable -- especially with the newer ones. my wallies are irreplaceable, so it was really my only option. even with some of the chinese-made wallies, though, if the leather is still in good shape and you're sentimental about 'em... might be worth it.

[fuck disposable footwear!?]

i have a pair of brown Wallies right now in the Goodwill bag that are nowhere near as worn as some in this thread; I have some real sentimental attachement to them and thought it might be healthier to throw them away but I feel like posting them for people to decide whether they go or not, I'll take pics in a sec...

edit: here they are... apparently they look much nicer in pictures than in real life... might just have to keep them after all?

i really like how you seem to wear the crap out of your jeans and shoes. props.

yeah, i kind of noticed also in japan that people wear their shit to the ground, everything, sneakers, shoes, jeans, a lot of things. I used to wear those clarks to work everyday for 2 years, and 2 years before that casually....I cleaned them up with some water and ofbeuf's yesterday, and put in a request to get them resoled. They've gone through so much, they used to be so much lighter, but i love the color of them now...

the crepe is the soul (no pun intended) of the originals line, ask nathan clark. anybody that knows about wallies knows that it is a distinguished gentlemans shoe, and it has to be trod in a certain way. it respects the foot, and demands respect in return. wearing wallies for the first time could lead to an ankle sprain if your foot rolls to much to the outside. and if you are a heel-draggger, the crepe will wear quickly. you must raise your foot up with each step. once the sole starts to lean to one side of the heel, comfort will be compromised...regardless, clarks are still the illest.
