coloring boots

yes i did a search.

anyway has anyone ever colored their boots? i bought a pair of brown ones because i love the make of them, but i would love to turn them black (no, they weren't also made in black). i can't find my copy of taxi driver(when travis colors his boots), so if someone has experience with turning brown into black...please leave me some detailed instructions. the boots are purposely distressed/ mildlydamaged, so room for slight flaw is okay. thank you.

At the Front sells a dye kit for their jackboots. I'm sure there are other alternatives, as well.
