shoes stretching

I just got a pair of Common Projects which are one size too small. Has anyone had any experience with bringing their shoes to a shoesmith to get them stretched out a bit. Basically I want to know if it works or not and if it is safe to do.

^ My cobbler has stretched shoes for me in the past. The only problem is if the shoes have a hard plastic toe. The leather stretches, but the plastic doesn't.

Also, you can only go a size or a half size larger, no more than that.

leather shoes are easy to stretch around the toebox, just bring them to a shoe repair shop. they will stretch the width, but not the length though.
